Battling a substance disorder is more common than you’d think. In fact, over 19 million adults in the U.S. dealt with substance abuse in 2017, according to the National Survey on Drug Use and Health. Out of these substance abuse cases, 74% were related to alcohol use, while nearly 40% battled with illicit drugs.
These common addictions with alcohol and drug use can have devastating effects. Not only is a person’s brain function at risk, but their emotional and spiritual well-being is negatively influenced. Substance abuse of any kind can put yourself and your relationships at risk, too. However, these types of chronic progressive illnesses can change for the better with the right help. Short-Term Services Offered
Those suffering from substance abuse often create toxic environments during the addiction journey. A large part of recovery lies in the removal from these environments, including from people and routines that encourage abusive habits. A short-term recovery program allows those seeking help to separate themselves from these triggers and temptations and instill long-lasting, positive habits in a supportive environment. Short-term services will help patients develop strong coping strategies, learn to say no, and develop a prevention plan.
Long-Term Services Offered
Patients who are having extreme difficulties with substance abuse can enter into our long-term vocational recovery program. The SSF long-term recovery program groups peers together with similar substance disorders in order to encourage a supportive community of like-minded individuals seeking change. Starting a recovery journey within this community establishes lifelong friendships and support outside of rehab. After graduation from the program, patients can continue their recovery success with tools like life skills, accountability, trust, and prevention.
